Thinking About Wedding Cars and Transport

One of the things brides most look forward to on their wedding day is making their big entrance. Whilst you want a dramatic arrival in a wedding car that leave a lasting impression, there are other factors to take into consideration when selecting your chariot for the day.

Personality

There's no point in trussing up your groom in a formal morning suit and ushering him into a conservative Bentley if he's a rebel at heart. Opt for wedding cars that are racier or have him roar up to the ceremony in a motorcycle.

Style

Above all wedding transport should match the style of the wedding. Think about how odd it would look if you arrived in a modern, stretch limousine for a medieval wedding. For old-fashioned, romantic weddings why not hire a horse-drawn carriage? Eagle Carriages capture the charm and pace of yesteryear as the joyful bride enters the ceremony venue.

Color

Although white is the most popular car colour, co-ordinating your wedding transport to the colour theme of the wedding will also help to create impact. If your bridesmaids are wearing pink or if you have pink flowers in your bouquet, why not hire a pink Cadillac? They look great in wedding photographs, especially against a rose garden backdrop. Thirties Limousines have a 1929 Dodge and a 1930 Dodge for hire that represents all the zest and spirit of youth yet is a car of quality and distinction.

Size of the Bridal Party

Traditionally, three wedding cars are needed to transport the bridal party to the ceremony. The bride travels with her father in one car, the mother-of-the-bride and the bridesmaids in another and the groom and his groomsmen in the third. If you’re doing it this way you’ll need to ensure that the hire company has matching cars, as many do not. However, if you’re more concerned with minimizing costs, consider hiring a limousine and have the bridal party journey together. Zodiac Limousines has an 8-10 seater  stretch limousine  with everything from a bar to a flat screen TV in it.

Weather

If you’re having a summer wedding ensure that the vehicle has air-conditioning. There's nothing worse than sweltering in a hot car with your makeup running down your face. Alternatively, in case of inclement weather, ensure that the wedding car is heated and comes equipped with umbrellas.

Dresscode

The arrival of a well-dressed bridal party will be marred if the chauffeur is raggedly attired. Some chauffeurs wear not only a suit and tie but cap and gloves too, whilst other drivers think jeans and a jumper will do. You can’t dictate exactly what they should wear but you can request that they be smartly dressed.

Questions to ask the Limousine Company:

How many cars are in their fleet? Some services only have a few cars, but book several weddings, and contract out cars from other agencies.   Usually the owner drivers will be more reliable as their reputation is at stake.

Ask them how much deposit they require. Some companies include their booking fee in the final fee, others don't and this could be a extra cost.

Ask for a flyer or quote that shows prices in writing. You don't want them making up inflated prices on the fly. You want a rate that is fair. Do they have a flyer with photos of their cars? If they don't have it written down on a quote, chances are they are unscrupulous, you should scratch them off your list, and move on to the next limousine company.

Can you bring your own champagne? Some provide champagne some don't, ask what sort of champagne do they supply and can you up grade to a better one. You'll want to bring your own esky with drinks and plenty of water for your ride, you will be thirsty after the ceremony. They provide the glasses.

Have them describe the worst wedding situations they have been in, and how they handled it. What happens if the car brakes down on the way to the ceremony?

How much is the overtime rate? Some weddings could run longer than expected, and you want to know how much the overtime rate is per vehicle that you use. You want no surprises. This is a huge source of problems for many newlyweds. Time how long it should take to drive between locations, then you will know if you are being scammed.

If you cancel, can you get your deposit back? Most companies will not refund deposits, so choose one with a low deposit, and be certain before you sign that this is the company you want. Avoid limousine companies that charge high deposits. Remember the deposit is booking your wedding day and the company has taken that day of the market to other brides, so pay a deposit.
