Grooms Fashions
There is so much for the bride to organise for herself, it is important to be sure you don’t need to worry about dressing the boys as well. Most grooms and their groomsmen do tend to hire rather than buy a suit.

So, to keep it simple, we have put together some suggestions on suit hire to put on your fiancée’s checklist.

  1. Choose a hire company you feel can give you expert advice, offers a wide range of styles and has fitting rooms so you can try on the styles to ensure you are choosing the correct cut and fit for your shape.
  2. When completing your hire docket, ensure it is completed correctly and honestly, as it does become a legal docket.
  3. After selecting your suit, groom and groomsmen need to be properly measured up at least three months prior to the wedding.
  4. Organise a haircut one week prior to wedding.
  5. Try on your actual suit at least two days prior to the wedding to check all colours and sizes are perfect. If you have changed size for any reason, this allows time for any adjustments. This may incur a small fee. It also allows time for any faults such as a missing button or a loose thread to be rectified immediately by the store.
  6. If you have tried everything on two days prior, collection of the suits is a simple process. You may even have been able to take them at the try-on stage. Do check, however, that any adjustments or alterations are correct before leaving the store.
  7. Ensure you return your suit on the date as per your hire invoice, as often they are required for a quick turnaround. This will also enable you to receive your bond back.

groom

The groom, groomsmen and pageboys all need to look special on your wedding day. While the traditional suit is still popular there are now a wide variety of options so they too can be in perfect keeping with the style and season of the wedding.

The groom not only needs to look special on your wedding day, he needs to feel comfortable and be confident in what he is wearing and what the day will bring. The traditional black suit or tuxedo, with the traditional bow tie was once the only option. With the wider selection of styles and colours now available, many grooms are taking a more active role in ‘suiting’ themselves.

Men are now dressing for the occasion, taking into account comfort, climate and the theme and the style of the wedding. These newer styles allow a less formal approach to the wedding. Tailored open neck shirts without ties or jackets are becoming increasingly popular in summer and for beach and garden weddings.

Remember that a wedding is centered around a harmonious union that can be further displayed by selecting the right fabric, style and colour of menswear to complement and enhance the bride and bridesmaids’ clothing. If you are considering complementing the colour and texture of your bride-to-be’s gown, ensure you take a swatch of fabric with you when choosing suit accessories. It is also a good idea to have a basic idea of the style of wedding.

On the question of hire or buy, while many men choose to hire their outfit due to the expense of buying and the possibility they will not wear it further, others realise they will require a good outfit on numerous occasions throughout their lives and choose to buy something classical that will not date.
